Good not Great, Yet。So comparing this to the tv show, it is much slower in pace but gives a lot more information and detail behind certain back stories and characters。 There is still plenty of jaw dropping antics and mind blowing scenes。 Its nice that the show didn't follow the novel series so closely that way its not just reading the same thing that you watched but you get much deeper info。 It does get a bit boring and slow in certain areas but then heads start rolling or should I say poppin。 L Good not Great, Yet。So comparing this to the tv show, it is much slower in pace but gives a lot more information and detail behind certain back stories and characters。 There is still plenty of jaw dropping antics and mind blowing scenes。 Its nice that the show didn't follow the novel series so closely that way its not just reading the same thing that you watched but you get much deeper info。 It does get a bit boring and slow in certain areas but then heads start rolling or should I say poppin。 Lol The art and layout both work really well for the series。 Super graphic and most definitely adult humor and illustration 100% Storyline during the first omnibus is definitely a bit slow in parts but also very strong in others。 I just felt the slow parts dragged heavily but the good party's passed so quickly, it left me wanting a more in depth storyline。 。。。more

This is a hard one to rate。 While I appreciate the characters and the premise the graphic novel gives us, ultimately the Amazon Prime show is A LOT better。 The novel follows The boys going after smaller supes and solving who was responsible for human casualties。 There is a lot less emphasis on going after The Seven and Homelander at this point in the series。 I can't deny it's a fun read but it has it's problems (One is that the female characters really just exist for sex)。 If you're an avid comi This is a hard one to rate。 While I appreciate the characters and the premise the graphic novel gives us, ultimately the Amazon Prime show is A LOT better。 The novel follows The boys going after smaller supes and solving who was responsible for human casualties。 There is a lot less emphasis on going after The Seven and Homelander at this point in the series。 I can't deny it's a fun read but it has it's problems (One is that the female characters really just exist for sex)。 If you're an avid comic reader and you're not bothered by gore and lots of sex then you'll probably enjoy this series。 Prime series fans will probably be happier sticking the the show。 。。。more

Pretty good comic I love the Simon Pegg reference! I’ve watched the Amazon show and I would recommend that if you like the comics! It’s super fun!

Completely different than the show (which I love)。 Plotlines, characters, tone, and especially the level and intensity of the sexual depravity。 These differences work to make both the comics *and* the show better, for they’re both distinct, fresh and insightful studies of the problem of a superhero culture gone horrible。 Also, I’m a big horror fan, so the gore was gleeful。 My main problems were the excessive use of homophobic slurs。 Though the characters discussed and explored and ultimately “ac Completely different than the show (which I love)。 Plotlines, characters, tone, and especially the level and intensity of the sexual depravity。 These differences work to make both the comics *and* the show better, for they’re both distinct, fresh and insightful studies of the problem of a superhero culture gone horrible。 Also, I’m a big horror fan, so the gore was gleeful。 My main problems were the excessive use of homophobic slurs。 Though the characters discussed and explored and ultimately “accepted” gay culture, it was a tough and awkward slog for them … and didn’t entire eliminate the droppage of F-bombs。 。。。more

Big fan of the show。 This is not the show。 This was almost unreadable trash。 2 stars just because it was the inspiration for one of my favorite shows, and that should mean something。

Much edgier and gruesome than the show but it doesn’t really bother me。The humour is bone dry and works very effectively。The deconstruction of superhero comics is much more prevalent in this than the show, I feel the show is more deconstructing superhero shows and movies whereas this is doing the comics。I wasn’t the biggest fan of the art style but It grew on my as I kept reading。Excited to continue。

Hassan

I liked the show more

Pantelis Andreou

Well, enjoyed about 75% of this! The Russian storyline was not for me。

Molly Dettmann

I just do not like the artwork。 I did think it was funny that Hughie looks Luke Simon Pegg。 I think I’ll stick to the show。

Reading this alongside watching the series is interesting。 Some parallels, some significant differences but it's nice to match bits and pieces up, characters and plot points。The comic itself is wonderfully drawn, expressively visceral and boundlessly crude。 A nice counterpoint to many mainstream superhero comics。 Reading this alongside watching the series is interesting。 Some parallels, some significant differences but it's nice to match bits and pieces up, characters and plot points。The comic itself is wonderfully drawn, expressively visceral and boundlessly crude。 A nice counterpoint to many mainstream superhero comics。 。。。more

More of 2。5 stars。 The first two chapters (The Name of the Game and Cherry) are pretty good, however the last two, (Get Some and The Glorious Five Year Plan) were pretty bad。 Ive watched the show in it's entirety and I see why they diverged from the comics so much and I'm glad they did because this comic is so boring followed by uninteresting events。 More of 2。5 stars。 The first two chapters (The Name of the Game and Cherry) are pretty good, however the last two, (Get Some and The Glorious Five Year Plan) were pretty bad。 Ive watched the show in it's entirety and I see why they diverged from the comics so much and I'm glad they did because this comic is so boring followed by uninteresting events。 。。。more

This is something a teenage boy would appreciate。 Content is a bit crude and immature for the subject matter。 Dialogue is fairly natural and flows pretty well, art is amazingly detailed and visceral。 The story tries to balance a critique of superheros, corporate culture, bigotry, political espionage and interventionism with an immature, satirical writing style。This, i feel, ultimately comes across as fairly surface level critique of the superhero genre and doesn't hit as hard as similar works, l This is something a teenage boy would appreciate。 Content is a bit crude and immature for the subject matter。 Dialogue is fairly natural and flows pretty well, art is amazingly detailed and visceral。 The story tries to balance a critique of superheros, corporate culture, bigotry, political espionage and interventionism with an immature, satirical writing style。This, i feel, ultimately comes across as fairly surface level critique of the superhero genre and doesn't hit as hard as similar works, like Watchmen。 At times the writing style gets in the way of the themes and underlying message。 However, it doesn't take itself too seriously, which helps make it a more enjoyable read。 Overall, if you enjoyed the show, and want to give it a shot, it's probably worth a read。 。。。more

I just finished season 2 of the show and wanted to compare and contrast a little bit。 The show is definitely better, but this wasn't bad。 The story in general is very original and refreshing from the run-of-the-mill superhero story。 I think it depicts a more realistic option of what would happen if we had superheroes in the real world。 The show is awesome and I can't wait for Jensen Ackles in season 3😍🥰 I just finished season 2 of the show and wanted to compare and contrast a little bit。 The show is definitely better, but this wasn't bad。 The story in general is very original and refreshing from the run-of-the-mill superhero story。 I think it depicts a more realistic option of what would happen if we had superheroes in the real world。 The show is awesome and I can't wait for Jensen Ackles in season 3😍🥰 。。。more

The Boys jsem původně viděl seriálové zpracování na Amazonu a teprve poté jsem zjistil že to má comicsovou předlohu。 Jak už to tak bývá, ten comics je výrazně vtipnější a drsnější, tohle byla fakt zábava!

3。5 I actually enjoyed it but it’s nothing amazing It was a bit too episodic。 It had a few 3 comic arcs which varied in the quality。 I think I will continue to read and see what the 7 and Homelander will be like。

Wow! I watched the Amazon series before finally picking up this graphic novel series, so I knew to expect some raunchy, adult themes。 This was so much more than I expected! Definitely not family friendly。 Amazing artwork and solid writing, I'm only deducting stars because it seems like there are story points/jokes/dialog that are only pushing for shock value without a real need for it。 Wow! Sex,drug and supes。The graphic novel who inspired the “so entertaining “ series on prime。I watch the show first (the two first seasons,3rd one should come soon) and you know what they’re saying:the book was better than the movie/series。In this case I guess it’s a bit different,I liked the first volume of that saga, but the show was so wow。I still recommend this huge read,350ish pages。Be aware this read it’s for the big boys…and girls too, girls like nasty violent crazy story too。。I guess。

Graphic Audio - I was skeptical at first, how a listening experience would effectively translate a graphic novel but the folks at GA did a magnificent job, to the point where I enjoyed the audio version more than the illustrated one。 I listened to the story first and went back to the GN version and, although the imagery was unique, I felt it distracted from the overall story。 I'm looking forward to listening to how the rest of the series pans out。 Graphic Audio - I was skeptical at first, how a listening experience would effectively translate a graphic novel but the folks at GA did a magnificent job, to the point where I enjoyed the audio version more than the illustrated one。 I listened to the story first and went back to the GN version and, although the imagery was unique, I felt it distracted from the overall story。 I'm looking forward to listening to how the rest of the series pans out。 。。。more

It was neat seeing the original version of the show I enjoy so much, but the storyline hasn’t been as compelling in written form (possibly because it’s so different)。 Between that and the over-the-top sexual content and sexual violence and I think maybe I’ll wait to pick up the next omnibus。 That said, the personalities of the main Boys and creative ways of showing Supes as a bunch of bastards was fun to read。

I love hughie, can’t put into words how amazing the scottish accent is portrayed in this comic
